“Two years of residence in Telal 5 began promisingly with acceptable maintenance. Rent initially exceeded market levels but was accepted because of the closed kitchen and generous room sizes. Subsequent market conditions produced a rent reduction, yet maintenance standards declined. Corridor cleaning is almost non-existent and floors remain dirty. The basement is partially flooded for much of the time by a leak that has persisted for more than a year. Pest problems have increased because of poor hygiene and the practice of some residents of leaving food around the refuse room. Management has ignored the numerous complaints submitted, and rent continues to exceed current market rates. Residence at Telal 5 is not recommended for the foreseeable future. (Positives: Room size is good.)”
