Downtown Dubai is the district Emaar built around the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, fronting Sheikh Zayed Road with its own Red Line metro station. Homes are apartments and serviced residences in towers along Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, with a small number of penthouses in the landmark buildings.
It is the most central address in the city and priced accordingly. Everything is walkable, from the mall and the fountain to restaurants and offices, and the buildings are generally newer and better serviced than the city average. What residents weigh against that is cost, tourist footfall on the boulevard, and traffic at weekends and on event nights, when getting in and out of the district takes real patience.
