Mirdif is a low-rise district in the east of the city, beside the airport and next to Mushrif Park. It covers around nine square kilometres of villas and gated communities: Uptown Mirdif, Shorooq, Ghoroob and the newer Mirdif Hills, most of which mix apartments with townhouses and shared pools.
It is a settled family area with a strong Emirati and long-term expatriate population, and the schools and Mirdif City Centre sit inside it. The honest drawback is the airport. Parts of Mirdif lie under the approach path, and aircraft noise varies street by street. There is no metro station in the area, so everything is a drive.
