Jebel Ali is the far south western end of Dubai, defined by the port and the free zone rather than by its housing. The residential parts sit apart from the industry: Jebel Ali Village, laid out in 1977 as a garden town for port staff and later rebuilt by Nakheel as townhouses, The Gardens next to it, and worker accommodation further in.
Rents are among the lowest in the city and the Red Line reaches this end, with Ibn Battuta and UAE Exchange stations nearby. What you accept is the setting: heavy traffic on the truck routes, industry for a neighbour and a long run to anywhere central. Jebel Ali beach and Festival Plaza are the local relief.
