Al Satwa is a low-rise district wedged between Sheikh Zayed Road and Jumeirah, minutes from the Trade Centre and Downtown. 2nd December Street runs through the middle of it, lined with tailors, textile shops and cafes. The housing is older apartment blocks and subdivided villas rather than towers.
Almost nowhere this central is this cheap, which is why it holds a large Filipino and South Asian population, some of it here for decades. World Trade Centre is the nearest metro station. The stock is old and shows it, parking is difficult, and redevelopment plans have hung over the area for years without much of it arriving.
