Al Furjan is a Nakheel community between Sheikh Zayed Road and Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, next to Discovery Gardens and Jebel Ali. The first phase was low-rise villas and townhouses in the Quortaj and Dubai Style layouts. The apartment buildings came later and mostly from other developers, packed along the edges of the villa plots.
Two Route 2020 metro stations serve it, which is unusual this far from the centre, and rents undercut Marina and JVC for similar space. Families take the villas, younger tenants the flats. Construction is still running in parts, retail comes down to small centres and supermarkets, and the newer apartment blocks vary a lot in how well they were built.
