Dubai Investments Park is a 2,300 hectare mixed-use zone in the south west of the city, started in 1997 and split into DIP 1 and DIP 2. Industry, warehousing and offices take up most of it, with the housing set apart in pockets: Green Community, Dunes Village, Ewan Residences and a handful of apartment blocks around them.
It is a long way out and rents follow: some of the lowest in Dubai for the space you get. The Route 2020 line put a metro station here, which changed the commute considerably. What you give up is proximity to everything else. Most of the city is a drive, the industrial half is a real neighbour, and life outside the residential pockets is thin.
