Al Karama is a low-rise grid inside Bur Dubai, running between Zabeel Park and Umm Hurair. Much of it went up in the 1970s and 1980s as housing for government workers, which is why the blocks are short, packed close together and lined with shops at street level. ADCB and BurJuman stations sit on its edges.
It is one of the most central places in Dubai where you can still rent cheaply, and the population is heavily South Asian and Filipino, a lot of it long settled. Karama Market and the food streets are the draw. The buildings are old and it shows: small flats, tight parking, and walk-ups without lifts in the oldest stretches.
